Welcome to our website

Wickham Market Area Archive Centre maintains records relating to families, properties and events in the area of Wickham Market, in the county of Suffolk, England.

These archives may be viewed by visiting the Archive Centre on Tuesday afternoons between 2:00pm and 4:00pm and Thursday mornings between 10:30am and 12:30pm (no appointment is needed). For an appointment to visit at any other time, please phone 01728 746241, or email mary.morris@uwclub.net . (Please include WMAAC in the subject line). You are welcome to visit the Centre to do some research, or just to see the set-up of the scheme. The "Records Held"  page gives a list of the type of documents available.

The Centre is always looking for more material to add to its already extensive collection of books, maps, photographs and documents. These may be originals or copies. Photographs should have as much detail as possible – names, dates and places are the most important.

In addition to "old" materials, photographs and accounts of current events are required – it is surprising how quickly the present becomes the past!

Members of the Archive Centre have produced a number of publications which are available locally, and very reasonably priced. More information can be found on the Publications page.

A social event is held annually, in October, at which a guest speaker talks on a subject of local interest.

Public exhibitions are put on each year, in Wickham Market Village Hall.

Annual Membership of the Centre is available.

In 2017 we will be running a new Guided Walk - The Old Shops of Wickham Market. For more information, go to our guided walks page.
