Welcome to our new website

Wickham Market Area Archive Centre maintains records relating to families, properties and events in the area of Wickham Market, in the county of Suffolk, England.

These archives may be viewed by visiting the Archive Centre on Thursday mornings between 10:30am and 12:30pm. For an appointment, phone 01728 746241, or email philiptallent@btinternet.com . (Please include WMAAC in the subject line). You are welcome to visit the Centre to do some research, or just to see the set-up of the scheme. The "Records Held"  page gives a list of the type of documents available.

The Centre is always looking for more material to add to its already extensive collection of books, maps, photographs and documents. These may be originals or copies. Photographs should have as much detail as possible – names, dates and places are the most important.

In addition to "old" materials, photographs and accounts of current events are required – it is surprising how quickly the present becomes the past!

Members of the Archive Centre have produced a number of publications which are available locally, and very reasonably priced. More information can be found on the Publications page.

A social event is held annually, in October, at which a guest speaker talks on a subject of local interest.

Two main public exhibitions are put on each year, at Easter and in September, in Wickham Market Village Hall.

The next exhibition will be held in 2013.

Annual and Life Membership of the Centre are available.
