In conjunction with Wickham Market Village Hall's New Build Group we are organising a series of talks, to raise funds funds for the new Village Hall.
Working with the University of Suffolk, on Saturday 23rd March, there will be an exhibition during the day in the Village Hall, together with a talk in the afternoon, about the Basque Refugees in the Workhouse.
In 1938/39 about 100 children were evacuated from Spain to Wickham Market, where they stayed in the Workhouse, which is now Deben Court, and we will hear about their experiences of living here.
During the day, a blue plaque will be unveiled at Deben Court.
Admission will be free, but donations please to The Basque Children's Association and WMAAC. Exact timings to be posted shortly.
The following talks will all cost £5.00 and doors will open at 7:00pm for free refreshments, for a 7:30pm start. All proceeds will go towards WMAAC's accommodation it the new Village Hall.
On Friday 18th May Ros and Bob Webb will be talking about the history and refurbishment of The Station House at Campsea Ash.
Talks for Friday 27th July and Friday 28th September have still to be arranged, but please make a note of the dates.
On Friday 23rd November, Jane Bradburn will be talking about 5 Wickham Market men who became prisoners of war in World War 2.

The next social evening will take place at 7:00pm on Friday 12th October 2018.
The meal will consist of a chice of 4 main courses and 5 desserts. Door open at 6:30 for a 7:00pm start.
